Two of the BEST Valentines films - the amazing Romeo + Juliet and the sparkling Moulin Rouge.I love both for reasons that are both different and the same, both love stories are set in the past but are brought up to date in these visionary films that show love for what it truly is. There are no happy endings with these two but they are fast paced, beautiful love stories that captivate their audience. Oh and both soundtracks are AMAZING! ♥
Romeo + Juliet has this unique modern twist the love story unfolding on scorching Verona beach with beautiful hand painted guns, tiny pill boxes of drugs and Romeo and Juliet being nineties teenagers.
Moulin Rouge glitters onto screens just before the turn of the 20th century and brings with it Absinthe induced fantasies, the most decadent stage sets and rich floral boudoirs in which Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor find their love blossoms.
Both directed by Baz Luhrman and both as beautiful and tragic as each other ♥
